The Stupid Party
A handful of Republicans in the U.S. Senate grabbed ankles and voted for former N.Y. Federal Reserve Bank chief and current official tax cheat Timothy Geithner to head the U.S. Treasury.
From National Review Online:
Corker (R-TN)
Cornyn (R-TX)
Crapo (R-ID)
Ensign (R-NV)
Graham (R-SC)
Gregg (R-NH)
Hatch (R-UT)
Shelby (R-AL)
Snowe (R-ME)
Voinovich (R-OH)
Snowe and Voinovich I expect, but Graham, Shelby and Hatch, so called conservatives?
For the first time in my life, I’m glad that I have two Democrats representing the Commonwealth of Virginia. I expect nothing good from them, so the votes of Jim Webb and Mark Warner come as no surprise.
But the Republicans?
Instapundit quotes former Klansman Sen. Robert Byrd (D-W.Va.) on the positive side of the Geithner nomination:
“Had [Geithner] not been nominated for Treasury secretary, it’s doubtful that he would have ever paid these taxes.”
Byrd and a handful of Democrats voted “no” on the nomination.
Hmmm, now there’s a jobs bill. How about finding Cabinet posts for all U.S. tax dodgers?
