Mark Sanford, Please Stop Talking

Posted in: News,Politics | June 30th, 2009 | No Comments »

From Allahpundit on HotAir:

Sanford: I “crossed lines” with other women too. Also, Maria’s my soulmate…

I’m confused. Is he … trying to destroy his wife and kids? Or is this just some sort of slow-motion nervous breakdown?

His aides seriously need to start steering this guy away from microphones before he ends up telling us which positions he and Maria tried.

Really, I just wish he’d shut up and go away.

Dems Complete MN Senate Vote Theft

Posted in: News,Politics | June 30th, 2009 | No Comments »
Sen. Al Frankin

Sen. Al Franken

The Minnesota Supreme Court ordered the state to certify former comedian Al Franken the winner of the Senate election of last fall.

From Breitbart.com:

The Minnesota Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered that Democrat Al Franken be certified as the winner of the state’s long-running Senate race.

The high court rejected a legal challenge from Republican Norm Coleman, whose options for regaining the Senate seat are dwindling.

Justices said Franken is entitled to the election certificate he needs to assume office. With Franken and the usual backing of two independents, Democrats will have a big enough majority to overcome Republican filibusters.

Coleman hasn’t ruled out seeking federal court intervention.

Coleman won the election and the Minnesota Democrats have manufactured enough “missing” ballots to tip the balance in Franken’s favor.

The loathesome Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.) is calling for the Senate to seat the vote cheat.

Senate Republicans should refuse to recognize Franklin by voting against his joining the Senate, refusing to recognize him and filibustering or blocking anything he attempts to do.

Not that there is a Republican in the Senate with the balls to fight the Democrats, even when they steal elections.

The Obama, Castro and Chavez…

Posted in: News | June 29th, 2009 | No Comments »

All three have condemned the Honduran government’s upholding the rule of constitutional law in their country and deposing a dictator wannabe.

The president of Honduras was hoping to hold an illegal election so he could stay in office longer than allowed by the country’s constitution. The president-for-life to be doesn’t have the legal authority to call referendums, only the country’s Congress can do that. The Supreme Court agreed and declared the president’s plans illegal and unconstitutional.

So the president gets a real dictator, Hugo Chavez, to print up a bunch of ballots for him and orders the military to run an election. The military said, no that’s illegal we won’t do it and at the Supreme Court’s bidding ordered the president arrested.

He is now in exile and the Congress is choosing an interim president. Meanwhile the regularly scheduled election will continue later this year.

So what does the U.S. State Department and White House do?

They side with the president who wants to unconstitutionally change the government in his favor and set up a dictatorship.

“We believe that the coup was not legal and that President Zelaya remains the president of Honduras, the democratically elected president there,” Obama told reporters after an Oval Office meeting with Colombian President Alvaro Uribe.

Problem is, it wasn’t a coup and it was legal.

The Obama is on the side of a future dictator and has taken the same position as two other dictators in the region, Chavez and Fidel Castro.

According to Mary Anastasia O’Grady in the WSJ:

Honduras is fighting back by strictly following the constitution. The Honduran Congress met in emergency session yesterday and designated its president as the interim executive as stipulated in Honduran law. It also said that presidential elections set for November will go forward. The Supreme Court later said that the military acted on its orders. It also said that when Mr. Zelaya realized that he was going to be prosecuted for his illegal behavior, he agreed to an offer to resign in exchange for safe passage out of the country. Mr. Zelaya denies it.

Many Hondurans are going to be celebrating Mr. Zelaya’s foreign excursion. Street protests against his heavy-handed tactics had already begun last week. On Friday a large number of military reservists took their turn. “We won’t go backwards,” one sign said. “We want to live in peace, freedom and development.”

Unfortunately, the totalitarians in The Obama administration instinctively side with dictators, such as the thugs running Iran. How’s that for some not-so-smart diplomacy.

Cap & Tax 8

Posted in: Politics | June 27th, 2009 | No Comments »

Eight Republicans voted yesterday for the cap and trade energy tax bill.

Stolen from Michelle Malkin:

Photoshop credit: Leo Alberti

Photoshop credit: Leo Alberti

The vote was close: 219 to 212. Had these eight voted against the bill it’d be dead, because there’s little chance of it getting past the Senate.
Eight Republicans in the House allowed that crappy bill move forward. Eight. Republicans.
I have agree with the Other McCain, who needs Republicans when they vote like Democrats?
We’ve already said Not One Red Cent for the National Republican Senatorial Committee because Sen. John Cornyn and the NRSC betrayed the GOP grassroots in Florida. Now, add the NRCC to the list.

What’s the point of giving money to the national party if, on key votes, Republican members of the House are indistinguishable from Nancy Pelosi?

Why give money to the campaign committee whose job is to re-elect these RINO sellouts?

Unless and until all eight of these swine announce their retirements — or are defeated in next year’s primaries — I say the grassroots answer to the NRCC should be NOT ONE RED CENT!

When you think about it. Every lousy bill that gets passed in either chamber by a close vote, every judicial nominee betrayal and every sabotage of a conservative initiative happens because liberal Republicans, RINOs, vote for it and bring it about.

If Republicans, led by winning conservative ideas, were to retake Congress, you can count on RINOs to effectively stand with the Democrats to defeat any conservative initiative. What’s the point of a Republican majority, if that majority is dependent upon Democrat voting Republicans who stab the majority in the back at every turn?

I say let their districts go to the Democrats rather than allowing a liberal Republican to remain in office and  betray the rest of the party.

Crap & Trade

The Democrats are trying to ram the largest tax increase in history through with a bill based on the non-science of “global warming” hysteria.

From the Washington Examiner:

House Democrats expect to gain passage tomorrow of the Waxman-Markey version of President Obama’s “cap-and-trade” anti-global warming energy bill. When the latest version of the bill text was released Tuesday, it ran to more than 1,200 pages. But when House members cast their votes Friday, the text will be even longer, thanks to the compromise reached Wednesday to gain support from House Agriculture Committee Chairman Rep. Collin Peterson, D-MN, and other farm state Democrats. Regardless of the bill’s length, however, it is highly unlikely that more than a handful of members will have actually read the bill before they vote. It is such eyes-wide-shut voting by Congress that allows monstrosities like this to become law.

Crafted with the blessing of the Obama White House by House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Rep. Henry Waxman, D-CA, and Rep. Edward Markey, D-MA, who chairs that panel’s key subcommittee, the bill will sock it to every American who drives a car, has a monthly utility bill or buys essentials like food and clothing. Experts estimate the annual costs will approach $3,000 for every family within a few years. In return for this wallop to Middle America’s wallet, there will be virtually no change in the amount of greenhouse gases (GHGs)emitted into the atmosphere, the reduction of which is supposed to be the bill’s main purpose.

Under the bill’s cap-and-trade system, federal officials will cap the total amount of GHGs that can be emitted annually, on a schedule that requires a three percent cut by 2012, 17 percent by 2020, and 83 percent by 2050. Officials will also issue “credits” to be bought by businesses that satisfy the caps and which can then resell them to businesses that fail to do so. The government will collect nearly a trillion dollars in new revenue via an energy tax on those credits. But since 85 percent of the energy consumed by Americans is now and will inevitably continue for at least two decades to be produced using fossil fuels – which are the heaviest generators of GHGs – the caps will force energy rationing on America for the first time since World War II.

An econometric study by The Heritage Foundation’s Center for Data Analysis projects that the Obama-Waxman-Markey will cause nearly $10 trillion in economic losses by 2035, including an estimated 1,145,000 jobs and a 57 percent plunge in farm profits. But not everybody will be losers. Politicians in Congress will have more tax dollars to spend and there will be thousands of new jobs for Washington bureaucrats.

Another truly craptacular piece of legislation, similar to the pork-laden stimulus bill. The crap and trade bill will cost billions, further depress the U.S. economy, drive more businesses out of business and people out of work, and result in even more money flowing to the Middle East for oil.

I’d say contact your member of Congress, but really it’s probably a waste of time.

Go Away John Kerry, Please Just Go Away

Posted in: News,Politics | June 25th, 2009 | No Comments »

The loathsome John Kerry (D-Mass.) made a joke at Mark Sanford and Sarah Palin’s expense the other day.

From the Boston Globe:

The Bay State senator was telling a group of business and civic leaders in town at his invitation about the “bizarre” tale of how South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford had “disappeared for four days” and claimed to be hiking along the Appalachian Trail, but no one was really certain of his whereabouts.

“Too bad,” Kerry said, “if a governor had to go missing it couldn’t have been the governor of Alaska. You know, Sarah Palin.”

What is it about voters in Massachuesettes that they consistently return jerks like Kerry, Rep. Barney Frank and Sen. Ted Kennedy to Washington, D.C.

Wow. An injection of Demerol killed Michael Jackson.

From The Sun:

An Emergency Room source at UCLA hospital said Jackson aides told medics he had collapsed after an injection of potent Demerol – similar to morphine.

A Jacko source said: “Shortly after taking the Demerol he started to experience slow shallow breathing.

“His breathing gradually got slower and slower until it stopped.

“His staff started mouth-to-mouth and an ambulance was called which got there in eight minutes “Butfound he was in full respiratory arrest, no breathing and no pulse. They started full CPR and rushed him to hospital.

“When he arrived they started resuscitation, giving him heart shocks and inserted a breathing tube and other supportive measures to try and save his life.

“He never regained consciousness. The family was told that he had passed.”

 How very sad.

Seeing Good in the Bad…

Writing at the American Spectator blog, Andrew Cline highlights the good news coming out of the S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford adulterous affair revelations of the other day:

Republicans might count themselves lucky that Mark Sanford self-destructed in 2009. What a horror it would be were he to exercise this caliber of judgment after winning the presidential nomination.

Sanford’s down. So is Sen. John Ensign.

Now, will all the rest of you Republican asshats start thinking with the big head, not the little head? So maybe we can get on with the business of keeping The Obama and Democrats from ruining the country.

Hey, I think I’m seeing the beginning of a winning Republican platform:

We’ll keep our dicks in our pants;

We’ll defund the left, Planned Parenthood, PBS, Acorn, etc.

We’ll destroy the labor unions.

Michael Jackson Dead at 50

The King of Pop died of an apparent cardiac arrest today. Michael Jackson was rushed to the hospital after being found in a coma.

For as much of a freak he turned out to be in later life, I’ve always like Jackson’s music. He was a greatly talented musician and dancer. He will be missed.

Defund the Unions

Posted in: Politics | June 24th, 2009 | No Comments »

Another example of the cronyism the empowers corrupt Democrat politicians who reward their leftist political allies is the relationship between the Dems and labor unions.

The Washington Examiner has an article about the coming health care debacle the Dems are trying to ram down our throats and how they plan to tax everyone else’s employer-provided health insurance while exempting union workers.

The best chance for compromise legislation on health care may be a plan under construction in the Senate Finance Committee that would pay for a public plan in part by taxing some worker health benefits.

But the union workers who helped Democrats win Congress and the White House and whose support will be key in getting a health bill signed into law would not pay the tax.

With cost estimates already as high as $1.6 trillion, Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., has proposed paying for the bill in part by taxing health care benefits for workers who earn more than $100,000, or $200,000 for married couples, according to those familiar with the discussions.

Baucus is also weighing a tax based on the value of health care benefits that exceed a yet-to-be determined cap. A tax on benefits that exceed the cap by a mere $3,000 could amount to $750 in taxes annually for a worker who earns as little as $34,000, say experts.

But those union members serving under collective bargaining agreements would not be subjected to the tax, according to proposals under discussion.

Union workers enjoy some of the most extensive and costliest health benefits, and union officials complained their members would be unfairly burdened by a health care tax because their contracts cannot be changed quickly enough to avoid it.

Union members also represent one of the biggest and most powerful Democratic constituencies and their support of any health care reform proposal is viewed as essential to getting a bill passed in Congress.

Labor unions bankrupted to great American car companies and enjoy all kinds of special privileges denied ordinary workers. And, they reward the Democrats with financial support.

If conservatives ever get back control of Congress and the White House, one of the first things they should do is pass a national, federal  right-to-work law. Also, all federal government contracting language should immediately be changed to not just allow non-union companies to bid on federal contracts, but require that any contract solicitation give priority to non-union companies seeking the work.

Union worker dues should be taxed and all labor unions should lose their tax exempt status.

Conservative politicians need to recognize who the enemy is — the entrenched left — and fight hard, dirty and effectively to defund and delegitimize them.

More Happy HopeNChange Openness

From The Washington Times:

The criminal defense lawyer nominated by President Obama to be the top federal prosecutor in New Jersey is declining to identify more than half of his private clients on government forms designed to help the public guard against potential conflicts of interests.

Paul J. Fishman, nominated to serve as the U.S. attorney for New Jersey, is citing the privacy interests of the clients – an exemption that is permitted under federal ethics laws, but that leaves prosecutors on an honor system to police their own conflicts, ethics watchdogs say.

Mr. Fishman provided the names of 29 clients on the government disclosure form, including a convicted former New Jersey municipal official, a health care company and the former girlfriend of New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine.

But he withheld the names of “approximately 37 confidential clients,["] saying they cannot be named because they are involved in grand jury or other secret investigations.

“If this person is going to be able to exercise the law enforcement powers of the U.S. government, you want to make sure he doesn’t have any conflicts,” said Gregory Ogden, a law professor at Pepperdine University who has taught ethics.

Who knows how many conflicts this guy has. Knowing The Obama’s cronyism, he’l likely to be pretty dirty.

Defund PBS

Posted in: Culture War | June 23rd, 2009 | No Comments »

If Republicans (or Conservatives) ever regain control of Congress and/or the White House, one of the first priorities should be, really must be, defunding the Corporation of Public Broadcasting.

Check this out from Newsbusters.

The Public Broadcasting Service recently announced it will not allow new religious programming on their taxpayer-subsidized airwaves. The handful of stations that have shown a Catholic Mass or Mormon devotions will be allowed to continue, but the other 300-plus stations have been instructed to avoid any kind of evangelism.

Welcome to Barack Obama’s new world order.

News reports explained that the PBS station services committee insisted on applying a 1985 rule that all PBS shows must be “noncommercial, nonpartisan and nonsectarian.”

To everyone who’s watched a pledge drive or contemplated a toy store stuffed with “Sesame Street” toys, the idea that PBS is following any “noncommercial” policy is absurd.

To everyone who’s watched two minutes of “Bill Moyers Journal,” with its panels unanimously screaming for Bush’s impeachment, or more recently, for a single-payer socialist health-care system, the idea of PBS being devoted to a “nonpartisan” stance is several miles removed from ridiculous.

But the atheists and secularists who want all traces of sectarian “proselytizing” for Jesus banned from PBS do have something to say about PBS public-affairs programming. “Nova” creates a special to shred the authenticity of the Bible, and PBS doesn’t think to assemble a committee to evaluate it. PBS stations air tax-subsidized documentaries celebrating lesbian-feminist choirs, “transgender” riots, and a liberal teenager fighting against abstinence education, and nobody inside “public” broadcasting wonders whether they’re guilty of doing the very “proselytizing” they condemn.

As part of its wave of secular fundamentalism, PBS celebrates even late-term abortionists with a fanaticism that would curl the hair of any pro-lifer. On June 12, the PBS show “Now” (formerly with Bill Moyers) devoted most of its half-hour to smearing the pro-life movement as a vicious band of terrorists. They hailed two men who abort babies into the ninth month, Dr. Warren Hern of Colorado and Dr. Leroy Carhart of Nebraska. Reporter Maria Hinojosa briefly noted at one point that pro-life groups issued press releases denouncing Dr. Tiller’s murder. But those words were lies, claimed the abortionists.

Carhart attacked. “They may claim innocence and they may technically, under the law, be innocent, but their heart was certainly with Scott Roeder on the day that he shot Dr. Tiller.”

Hern echoed: “The anti-abortion organizations, you know, making these statements of distress and disapproval. No, no, no, no, no. This is what they wanted to happen. And it happened.”

Oppose abortion, even very late in pregnancy, and PBS is clear. You are a terrorist.

Let’s go back to Hern. “This is a terrorist movement. And they instill fear in people,” he said. “This is not an abortion debate. There’s no debate. This is a civil war. The anti-abortion people are using bombs and bullets. And they’ve been doing this for 30 years.”

“Now” host David Brancaccio began the program with a topic sentence: was Tiller’s murder terrorism, and did it succeed? Hinojosa asked Hern: “Do you say they’ve won? They’ve been successful?” Hern whacked that softball question silly: “Of course, they won. But this is the consequence of this kind of violence and terrorism. Terrorism works….The message from the anti-abortion movement is, ‘Do what we tell you to do, or we will kill you.’ And they do.”

On MSNBC, Hern uncorked this slur: “The main difference between the American anti-abortion movement and the Taliban is about 8,000 miles.” For this, he is hailed on our taxpayer-funded airwaves as a feminist hero, a very brave provider of services for desperate women.

Where was the air time for the pro-lifers? Hinojosa granted a few seconds to Randall Terry — in the familiar soundbite declaring the pro-life movement didn’t cause Tiller’s death, but Tiller was a mass murderer. PBS also aired a series of Bill O’Reilly segments where he referred to “Tiller the Baby Killer.” Hinojosa again set up Hern, this time to denounce O’Reilly as an accessory to murder: “It’s offensive, it’s vulgar, it’s grotesque, it’s fascist speech that’s designed to get Dr. Tiller killed, and it worked.”

Despite the noxious theme that describing abortion as the death of a baby enables terrorism, no one – not Terry, not O’Reilly, not a single professional in the pro-life movement – was granted the courtesy of an interview by PBS.

This story has a very disturbing ending. Ken Bode, hired by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting as an ombudsman or viewer’s advocate, lauded the show as “strong and convincing on this point: radical, anti-abortion opponents, including Bill O’Reilly of Fox News, are guilty of promoting domestic terrorism.” Bode even said “Now” has established itself for reporting “within the boundaries of fairness and balance mandated by PBS standards.”

That only underlines that there are no standards for balance at PBS on the issues religious Americans care about. There’s only a standard of malice.

PBS has always been about leftist propaganda and brainwashing. So it’s no surprise that with leftist controlling both Congress and the White House, the station throws off any semblance of objectivity. They never were objective and fair anyway, but would pretend to be so to quiet critics.

Unlike the last time Republicans gained control of the federal government, if it should happen again, the GOP should defund and kill its ideological opponents, that includes the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, as well as Acorn, Planned Parenthood and the whole evil host of leftist organizations sucking at the federal teat.

Knew She Was Lying

Posted in: News,TYS | June 23rd, 2009 | No Comments »

Told you so.

A Belgian teenager who had threatened to sue a tattoo artist who left her with 56 stars on her face has admitted she was lying.

Kimberley Vlaeminck, 18, claimed that she’d asked for three small stars but fell asleep during the procedure and woke up with a whole galaxy on her face.

Now she’s confessed she knew exactly what tattoo parlour owner Rouslan Toumaniantz was doing but changed her mind later.

Kimberley only made her admission after being caught on a hidden camera by Belgium TV show De Jakhalzen saying the only thing she hadn’t been sure of were the stars on her nose.

She had demanded £10,000 compensation to have the stars removed by laser treatment.

Mr Toumaniantz had insisted that she “got what she wanted” at the Tattoo Boy studio in Courtrai – and only complained when her dad got angry and her boyfriend dumped her.
