The Right Sort of Black

Posted in: Fourth Estate,News,Politics | January 31st, 2009 | No Comments »

Newsbusters on CNN’s coverage of former Maryland Lt. Governor Michael Steele and the RNC:

CNN’s Wolf Blitzer went out of his way to point out the apparent lack of diversity in the leadership of the Republican Party during a panel discussion on Friday’s Situation Room. Just minutes earlier, Michael Steele had been elected the chairman of the Republican National Committee, and Blitzer brought up the race of many of those who had voted for him with Republican strategist Leslie Sanchez: “Take a look at the audience, though — and I want to show our viewers a picture of the audience. Michael Steele, the first African-American leader of the RNC — Leslie, I don’t see a whole lot of black people, at least in that group over there.” He went on to say, “It’s encouraging. I’m sure you’re encouraged that all these white people basically elected an African-American to be their leader.”

Liberals and black people voted for The Obama primarily, even solely, because he’s black. And that’s a good thing, right?

But conservative, white, Republicans voted for Michael Steele as chairman of the Republican National Committee despite the fact he’s black, and that’s what? Not good enough?

Go figure.

Time for Tar & Feather

Posted in: News,Politics | January 31st, 2009 | No Comments »

So we have a tax scofflaw at the helm of the U.S. Treasury, The Obama’s named another big time tax cheat, Tom Daschle, to the Department of Health and Human Services.

An ingenious plan to raise federal revenue?

From ScrappleFace:

In office less than two weeks, President Barack Obama has already increased tax receipts at the U.S. Treasury with an innovative plan to get tax-dodgers to pay up, in full, immediately.

“The president’s plan is simple but ingenious,” said White House spokesman Robert Gibbs, “He targets wealthy individuals who filed inaccurate tax forms, cheating the government out of tens of thousands of dollars. Then he just nominates them for cabinet positions. They suddenly see the error of their ways, and they cut checks for the full amount owed, plus interest.”

Meanwhile, the head of the House Ways and Means Committee, one Rep. Charles Rangle (D-N.Y.), is living in not one, but three rent-controlled properties in New York City, gets some kind of tax shelter on his home in D.C. (which tax break is for D.C. residents), and has some kind of sweetheart real estate action going on down in the Bahamas or some such place.

You’ve got Sen. Chris Dodd, (D-Conn.) who got a nice “friends of Angelo” mortgage deal on his mansion from Countrywide Home Mortgage which is now bankrupt.

And, then there’s The Obama telling everyone they need to cut back bad economy and all. Except, he keeps the thermostat cranked at the White House because he doesn’t like the cold. D.C. area residents may be weather wimps when it comes to driving in the snow, but at least we know how to put on a sweater when we’re cold. You’d think someone from the Windy City would be used to the cold. Oh, but he’s from Hawaii. Yea, right.

Then comes news that Congress has just voted to triple its the amount of “petty cash” it awards each member to $93,000. Sheeesh, what I could do with that kind of pocket money.

From The Intellectual Redneck:

If this doesn’t make you want to fly to Washington and slap your legislator, nothing ever will. Congress gives itself a $93,000 raise to stimulate the economy. It must be nice to have that kind of extra petty cash laying around. Instead of tightening your belt in this recession, wouldn’t you like an extra $90,000? Never mind the record deficits. Never mind that ordinary Americans are struggling to pay their bills. Our Congress thinks it is far more important to be able to dole out perks to itself.

Those clowns, including The One in the White House, have been pillorying corporate CEO’s for lavish bonuses, executive jets and the such. But at least the CEO’s earned their payola. Granted, maybe the shareholders of Citibank and other bankrupt or near bankrupt companies ought to rake the bums over the coals, but where does the clown posse in Washington get off criticizing any body’s income?

Maybe it’s time to break out the old tar and feathers.

Missing Minn. Somali ‘Yutes’ Turn Up in Somaliland

Posted in: News | January 30th, 2009 | No Comments »

Those missing Somali “yutes” from Minnesota turned up in Somaliland of all places.

According to The Jawa Report:

It seems like there were more arrests involving US citizens traitors, specifically Somali-Americans. Somaliland authorities arrested 11 Somali-Americans in connection to the smuggling of anti-aircraft weapons. The 11 Somali-Americans were trained by al Shabaab, aka the African Taliban, and according to authorities were supposed to carry out attacks in the capital of Somaliland.

So that brings the total of Somali-Americans arrested in Somaliland up to 15. At least five more traitors are on the loose somewhere on the horn of Africa. It’s a good thing al Shabaab’s website has been shut down, this should cut down on their recruitment ability.

Somaliland is an autonomous part of Somalia considered “friendly” to the U.S. Unlike the rest of the country, it has something resembling a functioning government.

Life Imitates a Bruce Willis Movie

Posted in: Entertainment,News | January 30th, 2009 | No Comments »

Breitbart reports that the Feds disrupted a plot by a disgruntled former employee of Fannie Mae to wipe out the secondary-market company’s data.

The Justice Department says it foiled a plot by a fired Fannie Mae contract worker in Maryland to destroy all the data on the mortgage giant’s 4,000 computer servers nationwide.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 35-year-old Rajendrasinh Makwana, of Glen Allen, Va., is scheduled for arraignment Friday in U.S. District Court in Baltimore on one count of computer intrusion.

U.S. Attorney Rod Rosenstein says Makwana was fired Oct. 24.

Rosenstein says that on that day, Makwana programmed a computer with a malicious code that was set to spread throughout the Fannie Mae network and destroy all data this Saturday.

Makwana’s federal public defender did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

I think I saw this movie?

From The Washington Times:

Makwana, a citizen of India, was fired early on the afternoon of Oct. 24 from his job at Fannie Mae’s data center in Urbana, about 35 miles from the company’s Washington headquarters, according to court records. An affidavit states he was fired for erroneously writing programming instructions two weeks earlier that changed the settings on high-speed computers called servers that are connected to multiple network users.

Before surrendering his Fannie Mae badge and laptop computer at the end of the day Oct. 24, Makwana “intentionally and without authorization caused and attempted to cause damage to Fannie Mae’s computer network by entering malicious code,” according to an indictment returned Tuesday.

The code, if executed this Saturday as planned, “would have resulted in destroying and altering all of the data on Fannie Mae servers,” the indictment states.

According to the affidavit signed by FBI Special Agent Jessica A. Nye Jan. 6, a Fannie Mae engineer discovered the malicious instructions by chance Oct. 29. The programming instructions were removed that day and did no harm, according to the affidavit.

Had the virus been released, “it would have caused millions of dollars of damage and reduced if not shut down operations” for at least a week, Nye wrote.

Wasn’t that the plot of the fourth Bruce Willis Die Hard movie?

Virginia’s Share of the Pork

Stimulus Watch has a state-by-state breakdown on “shovel ready” projects funded by the federal pork bill.

Here’s a link to what Virginia’s getting from the bill, which includes funding for a Rappahannock River Heritage trail system, the Embry Dam/Canal trail, and the Riverfront Park in Fredericksburg.

The bill would fund 400 projects in the Commonwealth, which puts Virginia pretty much in the middle of the pack in terms of the number projects funded.

    The Hush Rush Ad

    Posted in: Economy,News,Politics | January 30th, 2009 | No Comments »

Rush Limbaugh helped House Republicans grow a set of balls and unanimously oppose The Obama-Pelosi-Ried Pork Palooza non-stimulus bill.

Now, according to Radio Equalizer, a group of leftist nitwits (George Soros-funded morons) are sponsoring a radio ad attacking Limbaugh and attempting to scare Senate Republicans into voting for the bogus stimulus bill, which does nothing to create jobs or “stimulate” the economy.

Apparently furious with the success of a newly-reunited conservative-GOP coalition against the reckless spending of hundreds of billions in taxpayer funds, a group of Obamists headed by MoveOn.org are planning an anti-Rush Limbaugh attack radio ad campaign.

Set to begin tomorrow on stations nationwide, the ads are designed to put pressure on GOP moderates in the US Senate who might be inclined to follow the lead of their House counterparts.

Here’s Rush’s response on the Mark Levin show:

According to Breitbart, some Republicans in the Senate are planning to oppose the pork pie.

Angry Republican senators vowed Thursday to put up a fight against President Barack Obama’s economic stimulus bill after the package passed the House of Representatives with no opposition support.

The senators denied they were indulging in political games against Obama, insisting that the 819-billion-dollar stimulus bill would prove a colossal waste of money without a greater emphasis on tax cuts and targeted investment.

“This isn’t about playing the game, this is about doing something good for the American people,” Republican Jon Kyl said at a briefing with several of his Senate colleagues, accusing the Democrats of ignoring their objections.

“It doesn’t seem they were interested in the same kind of bipartisan outreach that the president was,” Kyl said. “We are too often met with this response: ‘we won.’”

Senator Bob Bennett said he had no desire to see the new president stumble in his first major legislative effort in Congress.

“As an American I want to see the right thing done regardless of who gets the credit,” Bennett said. “I’m going to vote against this package because it won’t work.”

    Democrats Are Morally Wrong

    Posted in: Economy,News,Politics | January 29th, 2009 | No Comments »

Liberalism, socialism, “spread the wealth” is a morally bankrupt political and economic philosophy.

The Obama-Pelosi-Reid Pork-Palooza “stimulus” bill is also immoral.

Rush Limbaugh on his radio show today nailed it:

It is immoral. It is morally wrong to lie to the American people as the Democrats are doing about what this bill really is. It is morally wrong for the mass media in this country not to expose the lies and the misrepresentations of this legislation to the American people and what it is really intended to accomplish. It is immoral on the part of the White House, it is immoral on the part of the Democrat Party, it is morally wrong within the bowels of the Drive-By Media. It is morally wrong to take money from one citizen to feather the nest of other citizens and a political party at the same time.

It is morally wrong to claim that this bill will save or create three million new jobs when in fact it is a job killer. The administration has admitted that even if the porkulus bill is passed and signed into law, that unemployment will reach 10%. It is morally wrong to lie about what this is. It is morally wrong to play along with it because you think the American people don’t know what’s in it! If the American people claim to want this bill and don’t know what’s in it because they’re being lied to, Republicans in the Senate have an obligation to tell the people the truth of what’s in this bill, and not support it because it is morally wrong to do otherwise!

It is morally wrong to say that this bill will cut middle class taxes, when in fact most of it is about redistributing wealth from taxpayers to non-taxpayers. The New York Times reported — I just saw it right before the program started today, right before noon Eastern — that even illegal immigrants will get these “tax credits” of 500 to a thousand dollars each. Your cash is going to be given away by virtue of the porkulus bill to illegal immigrants, in the name of fairness. It is morally wrong to not tell people the truth of what is in this bill. It is morally wrong of the media to act as sponsors, to not care what’s in it, to hope it simply gets passed so that Obama does not suffer a humiliating defeat, so that Obama’s image as a great unifier and agent of hope and change can be cemented.

It is morally wrong for the Republicans in the Senate to know full well what is in this bill and still vote for it because that’s what they think Northeastern liberals might want, when Northeastern liberals don’t even know what’s in this bill. And, folks, it is morally wrong when politicians use a recession to spread hundreds of billions of dollars to their political friends and supporters, who in turn will help them with their reelections two years from now. It is morally wrong to tell the American people that you created a job-creating piece of legislation, an economic growth piece of legislation, when most of the spending does not begin until 2010 when it just happens to be a reelection year.

    The Pork Pie

    Posted in: News | January 29th, 2009 | No Comments »

The American Spectator has a column that outlines some of the “job creation” features of The Obama-Pelosi-Reid Pork-Palooza bill.

For example, the “stimulus” package includes $50 million for the National Endowment of the Arts to help “the arts community throughout the United States.” Wouldn’t want our economy to get behind in the international arts competition. The government is going to borrow $50 million out of the private economy to spend on this, which will result in a net loss of economic output rather than a net gain.

And of course there’s plenty of money being spent on these proven engines of job and wealth creation:

Then there is the effort to stimulate the economy by increasing welfare spending. There is $20 billion for increased food stamps, including lifting restrictions on how long welfare dependents can receive food stamp benefits. Another $1.7 billion is to be spent to help the homeless, not previously in our history a significant source of economic growth. Another $1 billion goes for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance program, to help low income families pay their heating bills, a worthy objective that has nothing to do with stimulating the economy.

Never had a job offered to me by a welfare recipient. But who knows in era of HopeNChange.

    Send a Note of Thanks

Take a moment today and send a note of thanks to Virginia’s congressional delegation (at least the Republicans) for voting against The Obama-Pelosi-Reid Pork-Palooza Bill yesterday.

Click on the links below, navigate to their contact page and send an email expressing your support. It’s important for these folks to hear from us. They’re under intense pressure to cave to The Obama and congressional Democrats, but they’ve shown some spine by voting against this massive $891 billion boondoggle.

    Voting “no” where:

    Rob Wittman (R-1st),

    Randy Forbes (R-4th)

    Bob Goodlatte (R-6th)

    Eric Cantor (R-7th)

    Frank Wolf (R-10th)

You can even send a note of dissatisfaction to The Obama faction voting “yes” for the pork pie:

    Glen Nye (R-2nd)

    Bobby Scott (D-3rd)

    Tom Perriello (D-5th)

    Jim Moran (D-8th)

    Rich Boucher (D-9th)

    Gerry Connolly (D-11th)

Here a list of how the whole House of Representatives voted on the bill.

On the Trail of the Missing Somali Youths

    Posted in: News | January 29th, 2009 | 1 Comment »

Remember the missing Somali “youth” from Minnesota? A bunch of young men from Minnesota of Somali nationality went walkabout last year and nobody has heard a word from any of them.

    Until…

One of them blew up in Pakiraniraqistan in November. His thumb apparently survived the blast and was flown back to the states where the Federal Bureau of Investigation made a positive I.D.

I’m not sure, but this might be the same kid who the FBI paid to have the rest of his body returned to the U.S. for a proper Muslim burial in Minnesota.

Anyway, the Christian Science Monitor has a story about an FBI agent going down to Atlanta to query a bunch of Liberians there about the missing Somali youth.

[S]o [agent Andy Young] had a favor to ask. Although this was a gathering of – “Liberians, right?” – from the opposite side of Africa from Somalia, he wanted to ask their help making
contact with friends, neighbors, coworkers: Anyone who might be a leader of Atlanta’s Somali community.

Because Somali kids were disappearing. Not in Atlanta yet, that he knew of. But “six or seven high school kids,” former refugees resettled in Minnesota’s Twin Cities area, the largest Somali community in the US, had recently been recruited by an extremist group through a mosque there and sent back to Somalia to train as suicide bombers.

“One child blew himself up last month,” Young said. “They flew his thumb back to [the FBI Academy in] Quantico [Va.],” fingerprinted it, and discovered he’d come to the US as a refugee.

“They’re still looking for those six other children,” said Young, “Their parents had no idea. They reported their kids missing.” If terrorists are recruiting teenagers in Minnesota, Young said, they could easily be doing it in Atlanta too.

The story quotes other U.S. officials saying the “bigger” concern is that a terrorist organization maybe recruiting the young men as “sleeper cells” in the U.S. for future domestic terrorist attacks.

    Pork-Palooza Passes Without GOP Support

    Posted in: Economy,News,Politics | January 28th, 2009 | No Comments »

    Woohoo!!

Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives finally gave us a reason to vote for them. Collectively the GOP members of the House voted against The Obama-Pelosi-Reid Pork-Palooza Spending Bill.

    From FoxNews:

The House of Representatives approved an $819 billion economic stimulus package Wednesday, dealing the new Obama administration a legislative victory but also giving Republicans a chance to show their resolve as the opposition party.

The final vote was 244-188, mostly along party lines. All Republicans who were present voted against the bill. They were joined in their opposition by 11 Democrats.

There is absolutely no reason for anyone, let alone the Republicans to support this albatross. It will not “stimulate” the economy. It’s a sham designed only to reward Democrat allies such as the kings of vote fraud at Acorn.

Now it’s on to the Senate where it’s more likely that Republican wussies moderates will likely crawl in bed with The Obama and the Democrats.

    A Muslim America

    Posted in: Culture War | January 28th, 2009 | No Comments »

Kathy Shaidle writes about Muslims in America at Right Side News:

Imagine a Super Bowl with all male cheerleaders and half-time prayers. In that America, they drink Jihad Cola instead of Coke and thank Allah when they win an Oscar.

    Not possible?

And don’t shrug off Islam as “just another religion.” Muslim sharia law deems women to be inferior to men, and allows husbands to “lightly” beat their wives. Polygamy and child bride marriage are condoned and encouraged, due to the example of Mohammed himself, whose many wives included a nine year old. Anti-Semitism and slavery are enshrined in the Koran, as is exploitation of and even violence against all “unbelievers.”

Radical Muslims have learned they don’t require bombs or hijacked airliners to destroy America. They can just use America’s own ideological infrastructure against itself.

I’ll link to future installments as they appear.
