Knew She Was Lying

Posted in: News,TYS | June 23rd, 2009 | No Comments »

Told you so.

A Belgian teenager who had threatened to sue a tattoo artist who left her with 56 stars on her face has admitted she was lying.

Kimberley Vlaeminck, 18, claimed that she’d asked for three small stars but fell asleep during the procedure and woke up with a whole galaxy on her face.

Now she’s confessed she knew exactly what tattoo parlour owner Rouslan Toumaniantz was doing but changed her mind later.

Kimberley only made her admission after being caught on a hidden camera by Belgium TV show De Jakhalzen saying the only thing she hadn’t been sure of were the stars on her nose.

She had demanded £10,000 compensation to have the stars removed by laser treatment.

Mr Toumaniantz had insisted that she “got what she wanted” at the Tattoo Boy studio in Courtrai – and only complained when her dad got angry and her boyfriend dumped her.

Sleazely

Posted in: News,Politics,TYS | June 12th, 2009 | No Comments »

The sleaze is beginning to leak out of The Obama administration. No surprise really, he was a lawyer for one of the most corrupt “community activists groups” in the country, i.e. Acorn. He bought a house with financial help from a real estate crook in Chicago and his wife had a phony $300,000 job at a politically connected hospital in the Windy City.

Vote fraud and campaign finance fraud are just the tip of the iceberg with this crew.

Now comes news that The Obama has fired the inspector general of AmeriCorps because the IG was investigating misuse of federal funding by a prominent Obama supporter at the organization. That individual was expected to repay more than $400,000 in federal grant money that was improperly spent on personal stuff.

The White House is going ahead with firing [Gerald] Walpin. The firing apparently stems from Walpin’s investigation of a non-profit group, St. HOPE Academy, run by Kevin Johnson, the former NBA star who is now mayor of Sacramento, California (and a big Obama supporter). “[Walpin] found that Johnson, a former all-star point guard for the Phoenix Suns, had used AmeriCorps grants to pay volunteers to engage in school-board political activities, run personal errands for Johnson and even wash his car,” the AP reports. In April, the U.S. attorney declined to file any criminal charges in the matter and criticized Walpin’s investigation. But at the same time Johnson and St. HOPE agreed to repay about half of the $850,000 it had received from AmeriCorps.

Bottom line: The AmeriCorps IG accuses prominent Obama supporter of misusing AmeriCorps grant money. Prominent Obama supporter has to pay back more than $400,000 of that grant money. Obama fires AmeriCorps IG.

Byron York has the details behind the whole slimy mess at The Washington Examiner.

Non-profit sleaziness seems to be a hallmark of Democrat administrations. Under President Bill Clinton, the Community Development Block Grant program was a slush fund to reward “community groups” that supported Clinton’s election.

Normally, CDBG block grants were awarded on a competitive basis to communities needing funds for neighborhood improvements, downtown revitalization, etc. When the Arkansas mafia moved into the White House, Hillary channelled federal block grant money to political favorites in contravention of the normal grant awarding process.

I covered the story for a publication I worked for back then, and remember talking to other community activists who were disappointed that their application, not only did win a grant, but never really stood a chance to win because the fix was in for Clinton cronies.

When news came out about the way grants were awarded, CBDG officials tried to create bogus paper trails justifying the grants. The documents were back dated and the head of the agency along with her top aide were forced to resign.

Of course Republicans were in charge of Congress back then, so a cover up wasn’t really possible.

Now, however, you won’t likely see a lot of interest by House and Senate Dems to pursue The Obama’s illegal and unethical firing of the guy was investigating fraud committed by one of the President’s political pals.

How’s that for HopeNChange?

The Smell of Team Spirt

Posted in: News,TYS | March 26th, 2009 | No Comments »

The Washington Examiner has an editorial today on the youth corps expansion envisioned by The Obama.

Noting that a bill expanding the so-called voluntary Americorps from 75,000 to 250,000 participants, was passed overwhelmingly by Congress and has “a strong odor of creepy authoritarianism.”

The Obama while running for election last year called for the creation of a “civilian national security force” with the same power and funding of the U.S. military.

To begin with, the legislation threatens the voluntary nature of Americorps by calling for consideration of “a workable, fair, and reasonable mandatory service requirement for all able young people.” It anticipates the possibility of requiring “all individuals in the United States” to perform such service – including elementary school students. The bill also summons up unsettling memories of World War II-era paramilitary groups by saying the new program should “combine the best practices of civilian service with the best aspects of military service,” while establishing “campuses” that serve as “operational headquarters,” complete with “superintendents” and “uniforms” for all participants. It allows for the elimination of all age restrictions in order to involve Americans at all stages of life. And it calls for creation of “a permanent cadre” in a “National Community Civilian Corps.”

But that’s not all. The bill also calls for “youth engagement zones” in which “service learning” is “a mandatory part of the curriculum in all of the secondary schools served by the local educational agency.” This updated form of voluntary community service is also to be “integrated into the science, technology, engineering and mathematics curricula” at all levels of schooling. Sounds like a government curriculum for government approved “service learning,” which is nothing less than indoctrination. Now, ask yourself if congressmen who voted for this monstrosity had a clue what they were voting for. If not, they’re guilty of dereliction of duty. If yes, the implications are truly frightening.

The scary part is the ”workable, fair, and reasonable mandatory service requirement for all able young people.” Sounds like a Hitler Youth program.

I can just imagine legions of ACORN trained leftist zombies on call to shout down dissent and beat up anyone who questions The Obama. Already on most campuses leftest students and faculty have turned into brown shirt mobs ready to bludgeon anyone they disagree with. Unapproved ideas are not allowed or even tolerated.

Imagine a whole nation of The Obama Youth.

Most ‘Transparent’ Administration Ever

Posted in: Fourth Estate,News,TYS | March 20th, 2009 | No Comments »

Heh.

The lapdog press is giving The Obama its “Newsmaker of the Year Award,” the ceremony for which is closed to the press. Hehehe.

From JammieWearingFool:

Barack Obama was elected commander-in-chief promising to run the most transparent presidential administration in American history.

This achievement and the overall promise of his historic administration caused the National Newspaper Publishers Assn. to name him “Newsmaker of the Year.”

The president is to receive the award from the federation of black community newspapers in a White House ceremony this afternoon.

The Obama White House has closed the press award ceremony to the press.

From the president’s official schedule:

“Later in the afternoon, the President and the First Lady will attend a reception with the National Newspaper Publisher Association in the State Dining Room, where they will be presented the Newsmaker of the Year award. This event is closed press.”

 Hehehehehe.

Acorn and the Census

Posted in: News,TYS | March 18th, 2009 | No Comments »

The people who committed vote fraud on a massive scale in the last presidential election, ACORN, has been rewarded with a fat pile of cash from the Democrats in Congress through the so-called stimulus bill.

Now FoxNews reports that ACORN will be put in charge of the U.S. Census.

The U.S. Census is supposed to be free of politics, but one group with a history of voter fraud, ACORN, is participating in next year’s count, raising concerns about the politicization of the decennial survey.

The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now signed on as a national partner with the U.S. Census Bureau in February 2009 to assist with the recruitment of the 1.4 million temporary workers needed to go door-to-door to count every person in the United States — currently believed to be more than 306 million people.

A U.S. Census “sell sheet,” an advertisement used to recruit national partners, says partnerships with groups like ACORN “play an important role in making the 2010 Census successful,” including by “help[ing] recruit census workers.”

The bureau is currently employing help from more than 250 national partners, including TARGET and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), to assist in the hiring effort.

But ACORN’s partnership with the 2010 Census is worrisome to lawmakers who say past allegations of fraud should raise concerns about the organization.

“It’s a concern, especially when you look at all the different charges of voter fraud. And it’s not just the lawmakers’ concern. It should be the concern of every citizen in the country,” Rep. Lynn A. Westmoreland, R-Ga., vice ranking member of the subcommittee for the U.S. Census, told FOXNews.com. “We want an enumeration. We don’t want to have any false numbers.”

Turns out cheaters do prosper after all.

Shameful

While working to get government-funded health care for the kids of upper middle class families and illegal immigrants, The Obama administration wants to gip America’s wounded soldiers out of the health care they earned.

The leader of veterans’ organization American Legion met with the Commander-In-Chief and was told of a plan to push Veterans Administration health care coverage for wounded soldiers onto private health insurance companies, in a plan that would generate $540 million in revenue.

The leader of the nation’s largest veterans organization says he is “deeply disappointed and concerned” after a meeting with President Obama today to discuss a proposal to force private insurance companies to pay for the treatment of military veterans who have suffered service-connected disabilities and injuries. The Obama administration recently revealed a plan to require private insurance carriers to reimburse the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in such cases.

“It became apparent during our discussion today that the President intends to move forward with this unreasonable plan,” said Commander David K. Rehbein of The American Legion. “He says he is looking to generate $540-million by this method, but refused to hear arguments about the moral and government-avowed obligations that would be compromised by it.”

So the U.S. government sends young men and women to war where they often come home with debilitating injuries, which will quickly exhaust the typical coverage of the average private health plan. The Obama’s lack of respect for the military is appalling.

The plan can only be part of a larger strategy to break the back of the private health insurance industry so as to pave the way for Gov-Care. Who cares if a couple thousand wounded soldiers have to lose health benefits in the process. It’s the larger plan that matters.

A plan, by the way, that won’t work, because it hasn’t worked anywhere it’s ever been tried. Government-funded and run health care is a disaster in the making.

The Do-Nothing President

Don Surber goes on a tear after the feckless The Obama administration, that partying every night, vacationing on weekends and posing for magazine covers along the way, aren’t exactly the top priorities of the President of the United States.

Barack Obama is too busy posing for magazine covers to actually do the job to which he was elected.

There is a price to be paid when a president throws a party every other night, weekends in Chicago or Camp David and poses for magazine cover after magazine cover.

After 51 days in office, Barack Obama has appointed only 73 people to 1,200 jobs that require Senate confirmation.

If they require Senate approval, they are important jobs.

But Obama is too busy to properly vet the people and appoint them to fill the jobs to get the work done.

That is his job.

And he shirks it.

And now we pay the price.

I’ve said it before and most likely I’ll be saying it again and again: ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES.

Of course he’s a clueless do-nothing president. He had a totally forgettable Illinois state political career. Voted present more than yea or nay in his brief time in the U.S. Senate. Prior to politics he was a useless rabble rouser lawyer for the criminal enterprise known as Acorn.

The guy is an empty suit.

His cluelessness, broadly displayed on this side of the Atlantic, has been spread worldwide with the appallingly stupid performance of her majesty Hillary (thank God she’s not president) Clinton in her maiden foray as Secretary of State.

But The Obama’s poor performance, according to Surber, is affecting our allies.

The London Independent reported: “Last week, it was all smiles and handshakes as Gordon Brown and President Barack Obama put on a show of unity in Washington.

“But yesterday, Sir Gus O’Donnell, Britain’s most senior civil servant, exposed transatlantic tension when he protested that Downing Street was finding it ‘unbelievably difficult’ to plan for next month’s G20 summit in London because of problems tracking down senior figures in the US administration. ‘There is nobody there. You cannot believe how difficult it is,’ the Cabinet Secretary told a civil service conference in Gateshead.”

If our allies cannot reach us because Barack Obama has failed to appoint someone to answer the phone, how are we to have any friends in the world?

And yet this naïf little twit who barely qualifies to be a backbencher in the Illinois legislature had the nerve to tell reporters last week: “President Obama has accomplished more in 30 days than any president in modern history.”

He really said that.

He really thinks that.

It’s one thing to have an idiot mayor of a decent-sized city, or even a moron for a governor. Heavens knows there’s a regular clown posse running the Senate, with chief bozo being Harry Reid (D-Nev.). Over in the House the Dems are led by bozoette Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) who thinks the entire U.S. Air Force his her personal taxi service.

But, for the President of the United States, the Commander-in-Chief of the most powerful military in the history of the world, and the leader of the free world to make as many, not just “missteps,” but out right dumb ass moves so early and often is absolutely amazing.

And yet, according to the Obama countdown clock, we still have another three years, 10 months and eight days to endure.

Heaven help us.

Remember The Obama’s promise to clean up the corrupt and incestuous Washington, D.C., political culture? Remember the promise to ban lobbyist from his pure and clean administration?

Get a load of this from The American Spectator:

Nancy-Ann Min DeParle, who President Obama appointed as director of the White House Office of Health Care Reform on Monday, took home at least $2.4 million in 2006 and 2007 from serving on the corporate boards of health-care companies whose businesses she would be in a position to affect in her new position.

Not-So-Smart Power

Posted in: News,TYS | March 4th, 2009 | No Comments »

A couple days ago I posted an article about the U.S. trying to get Russia to intervene with Iran to get the mullahs to stop building nukes. In return, the geniuses in The Obama administration offered to betray our allies in the former Soviet Bloc states of Poland and Czechoslovakia by retreating on plans to build a missile shield in those nations.

From NRO here’s Charles Krauthammer’s take on the new “smart power”:

This is smart diplomacy? This is a debacle. The Russians dismissed it contemptuously.

Look, if we could get the Iranian nuclear program stopped with Russian’s helping us in return for selling out the Poles and the Czechs on missile defense, I’m enough of a cynic and a realist to say we would do it the same way that Kissinger agreed to delegitimize and de-recognize Taiwan in return for a large strategic opening with China.

But Kissinger had it done. He had it wired. What happened here is it was leaked. The Russians have dismissed it. We end up being humiliated. We look weak in front of the Iranians, and we have left the Poles and Czechs out to dry in return for nothing.

The Czechs and the Poles went out on a limb, exposed themselves to Russian pressure, and we have shown that Eastern Europe is not as sovereign as it appears if the Russian influence is there, and we will acquiesce in what they consider their own sphere of influence.

This administration has prided itself, flattered itself on deploying smart diplomacy. “Smart diplomacy” is a meaningless idea, but if it has any meaning at all, it is not ever doing something as humiliating, amateurish, and stupid as this.

Well let’s see, they’ve screwed up the economy and are driving the nation into historic debt. Now they’ve turned their attention to wrecking our relations with our allies and making us look like weak idiots.

Now there’s HopeNChange!

No wonder the average home price in Detroit has fallen to $7,000.

SayAnything linked to this column by Nolan Finley of the Detroit News:

Nowhere is Michigan’s brain drain on greater display than in the Detroit City Council chambers.

My hopes for Detroit’s future faded as I watched the tape of last Tuesday’s council meeting, the one that considered the Cobo Center expansion deal.

It was a tragic circus, a festival of ignorance that confirmed the No. 1 obstacle to Detroit’s progress is the bargain basement leaders that city voters elect. The black nationalism that is now the dominant ideology of the council was on proud display, both at the table and in the audience.

Speakers advocating for the deal were taunted by the crowd and cut short by Council President Monica Conyers, who presided over the hearing like an angry bulldog; whites were advised by the citizens to, “Go home.”

Opponents were allowed to rant and ramble on uninterrupted about “those people” who want to steal Detroit’s assets and profit from the city’s labors.

A pitiful Teamster official who practically crawled to the table on his knees expressing profuse respect for this disrespectful body was battered by both the crowd and the council.

When he dared suggest that an improved Cobo Center would create more good-paying jobs for union workers, Conyers reminded him, “Those workers look like you; they don’t look like me.”

Desperate, he invoked President Barack Obama’s message of unity and was angrily warned, “Don’t you say his name here.”

Juxtapose the place and the faces and imagine a white Livonia City Council treating a black union representative with such overt racial hostility. The Justice Department would swoop down like a hawk, and the Rev. Al Sharpton would clog Five Mile Road with protesters.

And now those folks have a fellow traveler in the White House.

Pro-Abort Governor to Head HHS

Posted in: News,TYS | March 2nd, 2009 | No Comments »

The Obama nominated one of the most extreme pro-abortion politicians in the nation, Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, to be secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services.

According to LifeNews she “vetoed included bills for parental involvement for a daughter’s abortion, informed consent, medically-supported health and safety standards for abortion clinics, and reasonable limits on late-term abortions.”

But what’s worse is she is good buddies with late-term abortionist George Tiller who has donated generously to Sebelius’ campaigns.

Mathew Staver, a pro-life attorney who heads the Liberty Counsel law firm, tells LifeNews.com, “Sebelius is unfit to serve as the Secretary of Health and Human Services.”

“She is so blinded by her extreme commitment to abortion that she cannot be trusted to act in the best interest of those she should protect. Having her serve as the Secretary of Health and Human Services would be like the proverbial fox guarding the hen house,” he said.

He pointed out that Sebelius has close ties with late-term abortion practitioner George Tiller, who currently faces multiple criminal charges for potentially illegal late-term abortions. Yet Sebelius honored Tiller and his abortion center staff at a secret event at the governor’s mansion.

“While receiving large contributions from Tiller, in 2003 Sebelius vetoed legislation designed to regulate the health and safety of abortion clinics, including Tiller’s,” Staver added.

FoxNews reports that pro-life activist group, Operation Rescue, plans a “full-out campaign against Sebelius because, as governor, she has had the support of Dr. George Tiller, who has been indicted for allegedly performing late-term abortions on underage girls.”

“With Obama’s appointment of Gov. Sebelius to the Department of Health and Human Services, he might as well be appointing George Tiller, because Tiller is the one that will be pulling her strings,” said Operation Rescue Chief Troy Newman in a post on the group’s Web site.

“Sebelius’ involvement in Kansas abortion scandals and her indebtedness to the corrupt abortion lobby makes her unfit to serve. We urge our supporters to begin contacting their senators now to voice opposition to Sebelius’ confirmation.”

Just hours after entering the White House, The Obama set about reversing the Bush administration’s pro-life policies, including a regulation allowing medical personnel to refuse to take part in abortion or sterilization procedures for religious or moral reasons. The Obama HHS is also redrafting the “conscience” regulations to require all medical professionals to take part in the grisly procedure.

And while Operation Rescue will fight the Kansas governor’s nomination, it’s unlikely the spineless Republicans in the Senate will put up much of a fight. Particularly, given that the two Republican senators from Kansas, Pat Roberts and Sam Brownback, support the Sebelius nomination.

Although it may be a colossal waste of time, I plan to write senators Jim Webb (D-Va.) and Mark Warner (D-Va.) to ask them to vote against the Sebelius nomination.

Can’t Even Buy a Cheap Pair of Earrings

The Anchoress, commenting on The Obama’s munificent gift of $13 a week for us poor tax-paying schmucks, reminds us of Mrs. The Obama’s comments on the Bush administration’s $600 tax rebate;

You’re getting $600. What can you do with that? Not to be ungrateful or anything. But maybe it pays down a bill, but it doesn’t pay down every bill every month..

Barack’s approach is that the short-term quick fix kinda stuff sounds good. And it may even feel good that first month when you get that check. And then you go out and you buy a pair of earrings.

Of course, The Obama’s $676 will go WAY farther than the miserly $600 from Bush.

HopeNChange for all!

The Obama promised us CASH if he was elected.

Well, he was elected president, but now we learn instead of the $1,000 per couple we were supposed to get, we’re only getting $800. Individuals are only getting $400, instead of the promised $500.

The $500-per-worker credit for lower- and middle-income taxpayers that Obama outlined during his presidential campaign was scaled back to $400 during bargaining by the Democratic-controlled Congress and White House. Couples would receive $800 instead of $1,000. Over two years, that move would pump about $25 billion less into the economy than had been previously planned.

Officials estimated it would mean about $13 a week more in people’s paychecks when withholding tables are adjusted in late spring. Critics say that’s unlikely to do much to boost consumption.

 More details here.

That $13/week tax break for us regular working schmoes shrinks to $8/week in January next year. The Obama giveth, The Obama taketh. Blessed be The Obama.

 HopeNChange. Not.

Spoils of War

Posted in: News,Politics,TYS | January 26th, 2009 | No Comments »

Elections have consequences. One of those consequences is the winner gets to run things. The Obama famously said last week, “I won.”

While he takes that to mean that all political opposition must immediately halt in the presence of his excellency, there are some practical results of winning the presidency as well as both houses of Congress.

Namely, the right to reward friends and supporters with federal largess.

Congress’ whopping spending spree, erroneously named a “stimulus” bill, includes a giant cash infusion for the crooks at Acorn. Yea, Acorn. You know the ones, who along with the Democrats laid the foundation for, caused and exacerbated the housing bust/credit bust/U.S. economy bust.

Acorn is also the prime agent behind vote fraud writ large across the land.

For their help in getting Democrats elected, the congressional pork bill offers $4.19 billion in “neighborhood stabilization” cash.

As Michelle Malkin so aptly puts it:

As I’ve reported previously, the Generational Theft Act and other Democrat spending boondoggles will serve as giant slush funds for far Left non-profits. Republicans failed to do anything to stop it when they held the White House.

To the victors go the spoils. Stolen from the pockets of your children and grandchildren.

Don’t expect much of a fight from the Republicans. They’ve signalled a willingness to go along with the rape of the American taxpayer.

The Obama Reign of Death

Posted in: News,TYS | January 24th, 2009 | No Comments »

Looks like The Obama, the Warmonger, has launched a slaughter of innocents in the Middle East.

From the Times of London:

Missiles fired from suspected ones killed at least 15 people inside Pakistan today, the first such strikes since Barack Obama became president and a clear sign that the controversial military policy begun by George W Bush has not changed.

Security officials said the strikes, which saw up to five missiles slam into houses in separate villages, killed seven “foreigners” – a term that usually means al-Qaeda – but locals also said that three children lost their lives.

So much for spreading all that gooey love HopeNChange abroad.
