Islam = Insanity

Posted in: News,Rants | November 27th, 2009 | No Comments »

So it begins. The shyster lawyers, who represent the jihadis that The Obama wants to try in a U.S. court in New York, are already saying their clients are too nuts to stand trial.

From The Wall Street Journal:

When five defendants are brought before a New York federal judge to face charges for the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, the first question may be whether some of them are competent to stand trial at all.

Military lawyers for Ramzi Binalshibh, an accused organizer of the 9/11 plot, and Mustafa al-Hawsawi, the conspiracy’s alleged paymaster, say their clients have mental disorders that make them unfit for trial, likely caused or exacerbated by years of harsh confinement in Central Intelligence Agency custody.

The issue already has arisen in military-commission proceedings at the military’s detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. According to an August ruling by a military judge, prosecutors have made an “apparent concession” that Mr. Binalshibh “suffers from a delusional disorder-persecutory type” disorder. Mr. Binalshibh has been prescribed “a variety of psychotropic medications used to treat schizophrenia and/or bipolar disorder, including Haldol, Abilify, risperidone and Ativan,” according to commission records.

In October 2008, a military medical board reported Mr. Binalshibh may suffer from “severe mental disease” that could “impair his ability to conduct or cooperate intelligently in his defense.”

Ok, so they’re nuts. Too freaking bad.  Just shoot them. Forget about the trial. They’re enemies of the U.S. caught on the field of battle. Shoot ‘em.

We’re going to hear the same line of BS when the feds get around to trying Nidal Hasan, the Fort Hood jihadist. He’s nuts too.

Here’s a news bulletin: EVERY ONE WHO KILLS INNOCENTS IN THE NAME OF A GOD, I.E. ALLAH, IS TOTALLY BATSHIT CRAZY. But, they’re still murderers and should tried, found guilty and killed in the name of justice.

Islam equals insanity.

Clueless Napolitano

Posted in: Rants | November 8th, 2009 | No Comments »

The cluelessness of The Obama administration is absolutely astounding.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, currently in Abu Dhabi, UAE, kissing Muslim butt, is worried about a potential wave of anti-Muslim sentiment.

Incredible:

The U.S. Homeland Security secretary says she is working to prevent a possible wave of anti-Muslim sentiment after the shootings at Fort Hood in Texas.

Janet Napolitano says her agency is working with groups across the United States to try to deflect any backlash against American Muslims following Thursday’s rampage by Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, a Muslim who reportedly expressed growing dismay over the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The shootings left 13 people dead and 29 wounded.

Napolitano was in the United Arab Emirates on Sunday for talks with security officials and a meeting with women university students in Abu Dhabi.

Maybe, just maybe, instead of worrying about an American anti-Muslim backlash against Muslim jihadists who kill Americans on AMERICAN SOIL, Sec. Napolitano should worry about Muslim terrorists in her own country.

She sends out warnings about tax protesters, anti-healthcare nationalization protesters, regular redneck Americans of all stripes, but ignores the real terrorists in our cities and towns, such as:

The Muslim shuttle bus drivers at airports who plot bombings;

Or the Muslim imam whose son was killed in a gun battle with the FBI;

Or the Muslims convicted plotting Islamic attacks against Americans abroad;

Or  the Muslims who were plotting to kill two prominent U.S. politicians and carry out a holy war attack on shoppers at American malls;

Or the New York Muslim indicted for plotting to kill U.S. troops;

Or the Jordanian Muslim arrested for a downtown Dallas bomb plot;

Or the Illinois Muslim charged in plot to bomb federal buildings;

Or the Muslim men who vanished after taking photos of the Philadelphia subway system.

Maybe, just maybe, she should focus on HOMELAND SECURITY for change, protecting the rest of us from immigrants who refuse to assimilate, espouse hateful, anti-democratic and anti-American ideologies, want to impose their retched backwards and brutal religion on the rest of us, and turn our country in the kind of living Middle East shit hole they escaped from.

No, she’s more concerned about the feelings of Muslims in this country, who largely either remain silent about their coreligionists’ murderous activities — or actually applaud them — than she is in protecting the rest of us from outbreaks of  Spontaneous Personal Jihad Syndrome like what happened last week in Texas.

Handicrapped by DMV Dip Stick

Posted in: Rants | October 17th, 2009 | 1 Comment »

Last week my wife reported the Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles office in Culpeper, Va., to renew her driver’s license.

As she stood at the counter to turn in the required paperwork, the DMV bureaucrat behind the counter, turned the form over and said, “oh, you checked no.”

She was referring the box after the question that asks if you have any mental or physical disability that would prevent you from operating a motor vehicle in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Now, my wife has cerebral palsy, a birth defect, caused by a lack of oxygen during birth. She walks a little shaky, doesn’t stand quite straight, but otherwise leads a completely normal life.

The DMV drone then called on another woman there, apparently someone higher up the authority chain. The second public servant said, ”OK, you’re going to have to take this to your doctor?”

My wife asked, “why?”

As she started to answer the second DMV clerk turned the form over and said, “oh, you didn’t check the box.”

“Why would I,” my wife said,.

The woman walked away, seemed to think about it for a moment, and came back and asked, “what is it that you have?”

“Cerebral palsy,” my wife replied.

“Don’t you take medicine for that,” the DMV drone said.

“There is no medicine for cerebral palsy,” my wife said.

Again she walked away and pondered the situation.

Then, she asked, “don’t you need special equipment to drive a car?”

“Like what,” my wife said.

“Well, some people have one of those little knobs on the steering wheel…”

“That would be annoying,” my wife said.

The second public servant exchanged a look with the first, and then the first continued to process the license renewal.

End of story, right?

Fat chance.

About a week later the license did indeed arrive.

And, about a day after that, another thick envelope from the DMV arrived.

The letter was from the office of DMV Commissioner D.B. Smit and was non-signed by “Medical Evaluator, Senior Medical Review Services.”

The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is in receipt of information concerning your ability to safely operate a motor vehicle. To help make that determination, DMV requires you to submit a Customer Medical Report (CMR) with the following information:

DMV requires you to have a recent examination with your physician.

The physician must be familiar with your medical history.

Your healthcare provider(s) must complete the CMR in its entirety. They report must include diagnoses and all related information as required, in order to determine the proper extent of your review. Medical records are not sufficient to satisfy this review.

According to the DMV’s little brochure, Medical Fitness for Safe Driving, “Virginia law prohibits DMV from releasing information on the source or reason for the report submitted by a relative or medical professional treating the driver.”

The state doesn’t have to tell you who tipped them off that you might be too crippled to drive a car in the Commonwealth, but really, we have a good idea who it is: the clueless, ignorant, public servant at the Culpeper, Va., DMV.

Think about it.

This woman — based on nothing more than what her ignorant eyes saw — decided that my wife should probably not be driving a vehicle.

My wife is a bit over half-a-century old. As I mentioned earlier, she was born with CP. As a small child, she wore braces on her legs for a time. As a young adult, she went to college, obtained a degree in special education.

She was the day program administrator at a sheltered workshop, where she was in charge of the program that taught mentally handicapped adult independent-living skills. In that capacity, she supervised six instructional aides who worked with 10 shelter clients with varying levels of mental ability.

For more than 30 years, she has been a wife and mother. She has home schooled five children.

She has been a licensed driver in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Virginia for 35 years. She has a completely clean driving record.

Now, because of one dimwit, she will have to take a 12-page Customer Medical Report to her doctor, who is in Charlottesville, and typcially takes about six weeks to get an appointment with. And, this stupid form has to be turned in by 12:01 a.m. on Nov. 13.

All because of one dim-bulb bureaucrat.

Who doesn’t have a clue what cerebral palsy is.

Who is too stupid to realize that many people with handicaps drive automobilies, without special adaptive equipment, without special medicine, without anything more than a piece of plastic from the state granting the right to drive.

Think about it. If this moron thinks my wife is too crippified to drive a car, why process the application? Why allow the license to be issued?

What’s the point of sending a form requiring a person to prove they’re physically and mentally capable of driving if you’re going to issue the license anyway?

The galling thing about the entire sorry episode is that if she gets this stupid form filled out and submitted to the state, she will most likely be required to fill it out every time she has to renew her license, which for all we know could be every year.

All because of one clueless, dip shit of a bureaucrat.

For her entire life, my wife has been stared at, laughed at, and considered stupid. All because she doesn’t walk and look like everyone else. Not because she is mentally incompetent, nor because she is incapable of performing all the functions of a normal, non-handicapped life.

No, she’s been treated the way she has because of simple, stupid, bigotry, like that exhibited by the dumbass DMV drone who hasn’t the brain power or imagination to understand that people with handicaps are quite capable of living normal every day lives, even do mundane things like DRIVE A FREAKING CAR IN THE FREAKING COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA!

Disgruntled DSL Customer: yes
Disgruntled DSL Customer: I have a linksys router that I have used. My problem is that I cannot connect more than one computer at a time. I used to be able to do this, but recently upgraded to a faster dsl service through verizon and since then have not been able to connect more than one computer at a time.
Disgruntled DSL Customer: I have installed a new router and have been on the phone with verizon tech for quite some time. This morning I am trying to set the modem to bridge mode to see if that would correct the problem,
Disgruntled DSL Customer: however, I cannot get the modem configuration utility to respond.
Saurabh: I would like to inform you that your modem is in bridge mode, that’s why we are not able to open the modem settings.

Saurabh: It will set the modem to default settings.
Disgruntled DSL Customer: just say when
Disgruntled DSL Customer: when you say I am connected to someone else’s network, what do you mean?
Disgruntled DSL Customer: someone other than verizon?
Saurabh: It might be possible, as we are not able to access the IP address which you are getting right now.

Saurabh: So I would suggest you to power cycle the modem after this chat session.
Saurabh: Is that fine with you?
Disgruntled DSL Customer: yes
Saurabh: Alright.
Saurabh: Mr. Disgruntled, once the modem is power cycled then you can access 192.168.1.1 address.
Saurabh: In case if it ask for username and password.
Disgruntled DSL Customer: I’ve tried that twice this morning, but will try again.
Saurabh: Please enter admin and username and password as password.
Saurabh: Alright.
Disgruntled DSL Customer: ok
Disgruntled DSL Customer: shall I shut the power off now?
Saurabh: May I know, apart from this issue, is there anything else I may assist you today?
Disgruntled DSL Customer: no I just want to be able to connect all of my computers to the internet, which I could do, but now can’t.
Disgruntled DSL Customer: Can you order a new modem?
Saurabh: Sure, I would suggest you to contact our Billing Team. The number is 800-567-6789 voice prompt ‘DSL Billing’
Saurabh: And the hours of operation will be 8:00 a.m. (eastern) 6:00 p.m (eastern) 7 days a week.
Saurabh: To purchase a new modem.
Disgruntled DSL Customer: I’m probably switching to comcast after today
Saurabh: You need not to switch to comcast power cycle will work and get your issue resolved.
Disgruntled DSL Customer: ok, I’m powering down the modem now
Saurabh: Okay.
Saurabh: I am also sending you an Email as a follow-up to our interaction today, containing valuable information and links to online resources provided by Verizon.

So ended another totally useless session with Verizon customer support.

Notice that they think I’m connected to ANOTHER NETWORK? Holy cow, how is that even possible? Maybe the problem’s on their end? Hunh?

They’re default solution to all problems is to turn off the modem, wait three minutes and turn it back on.

If it were that simple, I WOULDN’T BE CALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE.

To recap:

About six weeks ago, I was happily using Verizon DSL to connect three computers (one desktop and two notebooks) and a gaming system to the Internet simultaneously.

Then I switched to the “faster” DSL service. About a day or two later, when the new service was supposed to begin with screaming fast service, I can only connect one computer at a time.

I’ve been on the phone with Verizon several times. My wife’s been on the phone with Verizon. I’ve contacted them through the online chat and still no resolution.

Then there’s this strange comment about me being connected to another network. What other network. I only have Verizon coming into my house.

I giving Verizon one more call this morning. If nothing gets fixed I’m definitely switching to Comcast.

BTW…

Verizon DSL still sucks.

If You Want to Preserve It…

Posted in: News,Rants | July 7th, 2009 | No Comments »

…Buy it at the market price and pay taxes on it. Otherwise quit your bellyaching.

I’m so tired of preservationists, whether environmental or historical, weighing in on some poor landowner’s efforts to sell a parcel that at one time was farmland and now has little value for farming to a developer, whether for a housing subdivision or shopping center.

Here in Virginia both environmental and historical land grabs are always in the news. Now Walmart wants to build a store near a Civil War battlefield called Wilderness. Preservationist, including Ben Stein, writing in The American Spectator, whine that:

This battlefield is incredibly important environmentally and historically and emotionally. It reeks of the blood of men fighting for causes they considered sacred. How can it possibly be that it will be used even in part for a Wal-Mart Super Store?

Maybe that’s because it’s unused farmland that has litte value for anything else. And, in a free society we let the market decide what something, like land, is worth. I think Stein used to believe in old ideas like capitalism and free markets.

If every piece of ground that a Union or Confederate soldier walked on was preserved, the entire Commonwealth of Virginia would be a giant historical park. The War of Northern Aggression was largely fought right here in Virginia. I live in a small town on the border of Northern Virginia and the rest of the state. The war was fought all around my house, neighborhood, town, county and region.

You can’t go far in this state without traipsing on some historically sensitive yard of real estate. Also, given that European settlers arrived here more than 400 years ago that’s a lot of potentially “sacred” ground.

Stein writes:

There is plenty of other land in the area that is not historically sensitive.

But that land is not for sale, and even if it was there’s no doubt a privy hole or slave quarters or something that someone at some time in the past four centuries has done something on, that some one or some group will decide is historically significant and worthy of preservation. One of the few types of farming that continue to thrive in modern Virginia is the planting of historical markers.

There is ample precedent for commerce to be informed by national emotion: Top brass at Walt Disney canceled its plans for an amusement park at or near the Battlefield at Manassas when its attention was drawn to the vital historical nature of the area some years ago.

Oh yea, let’s talk about the third Battle of Manassas. Disney did indeed cancel its plans for a giant amusement park that including housing developments, golf courses, shopping centers galore, new roads to handle the traffic, schools and other amenities required for growth.

Yep. The preservationist killed Disney’s plans.

But guess what? The development still came! On that same hallowed, blood-soaked ground that Disney would have desecrated is a colosal hodgepodge of high end golf course communities, town homes and shopping centers galore, without the needed roads, schools and other amenities.

Oh sure they’re widening the roads now, and schools have come along as well. But the point is, the effort to kill Disney didn’t stop the development, only delayed it and created a traffic nightmare that would have been avoided had Disney’s comprehensive plan been approved.

And on top of that, it all arrived with nary a peep of protest from the no-growth crowd that cried blood murder over Disney.

I don’t particularly care for Walmart. Sure their stuff’s cheap (yea and I buy groceries from there), but for the most part you get what you pay for. You want cheap squirt guns for your kid’s summer birthday party? Walmart’s got ‘em for a buck each. Trouble is for $20 you might end up with four that actually squirt water. You get what you pay for.

Back to the Wilderness Walmart, I don’t care whether or not the unused farmland/historic battlefield/potential golf course community becomes a giant Walmart parking lot.

But for those who do, why don’t you raise the millions that Walmart will pay the owner for the land and buy the parcel yourself? Quit using the power of the state, or in this case the county zoning office, to restrict the lawful owner from disposing of the property legally in the way he wants and restricting a lawful business from expanding in the way it wants.

And after you’ve bought the land, how about raising a couple billion more to give the county for the lost sales tax revenue that Walmart would have provided. Oh and while you’re at it, maybe you can hire a couple hundred local folks, dress them in Civil War uniforms instead blue Walmart shirts, and have them stand around looking historical.

Life Sucks

Posted in: Rants | July 2nd, 2009 | No Comments »

Life sucks.

The big box retailer I work for cut my hours this week from the 31 originally scheduled to 20. At less than $15 an hour, do the math, that means I’ll make less than $300 this week.

Even at 40 hours, which as a part timer I don’t get, my pay every two weeks is less than the $625 mortgage payment that due at the same time. So far I think I’m about five payments behind, maybe six.

Oh, and I’ve filed for bankruptcy and owe the court my entire tax refund from last year. But I can’t give it to the court because I’m about $400 short. I “loaned” the money to my son so he could make a child support payment and get out of jail. He’s equally under employed and won’t have the money to pay me back anytime soon if ever.

The electric company wants more than $1,000 or it’s going to shut off the power. The phone, the car insurance, gas for the car, water and sewer bills, etc., etc. etc., all come due. Some get paid, some don’t.

So find another job. Right?

Good luck with that. I’ve been sending out resumes, doing telephone interviews and such for more than a year. Had a couple close calls…but I’m still working part time.

And speaking of my son, he was in the army. But up in Fort Wainwright Alaska, the commanders there are too stupid to realize that leaving a bunch of 18 to 22 year old young men alone with nothing to do for months on end, and plenty of spare cash and liquor is a sure fire way to create a base full of alcoholics.

My son, never the brightest bulb, drank heavily, got into trouble and was kicked out of the army. Now he’s at home. He was doing ok, working and staying out of trouble. But now he’s running with a new bunch and apparently is getting into some heavy duty drugs. I’m talking morphine and heroin.

I’m about 48 hours away from kicking him out of the house and consigning him to his own stupid fate. If he’s going to self destruct, I don’t want to see it. And, I don’t plan to bail him out or rescue him. I’m tired of having a fuck up for a son.

I’ve already got one fuck up for a daughter, who has a kid, and can’t seem to get her life straightened out. She living with relatives in another city right now, but comes home every once in a while to drop the kid off and then go back to the other city to do what, I don’t know. I do know when she’s here, she can’t help but go hang out with the crack whore friends she had while living at home.

Frankly the whole mess makes me sick. But I don’t know what’s to be done about any of it.

My foot and knee hurt so bad most days I can hardly stand to walk. By the end of my shift at work the pain is so intense my leg just throbs. My guts have been in turmoil for months now. Everything I eat rushes through me like lightening. The pain and cramping make me stop what I’m doing. And yet I continue to gain wait and my gut just keeps getting bigger.

After I eat, sometimes my system simply crashes. I get so sleepy that I cannot stay awake. I’m afraid one of these episodes will hit me sometime while I’m driving. The fatigue hits so hard sometimes that I can’t function and just have to sleep. I have no idea what that’s all about.

And now I’ve got a sharp pain on the right side of my abdomen. Feels like a broken rib, but I haven’t fallen or done anything else that I can think to bruise or break anything. At night it hurts to roll over in the bed. In the day, it hurts to take a deep breathe or move too suddenly.

All of this, my kids, wife (and that’s another subject entirely), the job, bills, health, make me so depressed and feel so hopeless. I can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel and feel like this will go on forever. I’m so tired, disgusted with myself and life. I feel like a loser and for all intents am a loser. Most of the mess I’ve brought on myself by bad decisions.

I don’t know when this will all end and I’m losing hope that it every will. I’m tired of living, tired of life. I’m weary and dread each new day. I awake and wonder what fresh hell awaits, what new bit of bad news will hit.

When will the court decide to reject my bankruptcy plan because I can’t make the mortgage payments? When will I lose my job because the economy is so bad? What will I do then? How will be find a place to live, to rent, with bad credit, when the bank takes this place? When will the middle-of-the-night call come about an overdose or fatal car wreck of my son? Or, when will he get thrown in jail for possession? What’s the next medical calamity to come?

Get on your knees and pray boy!

To what point? If God is sovereign, then it is He who has visited all this pain and suffering upon our household. I don’t buy the Job excuse, it’s not God who causes pain and suffering, it’s only God allowing Satan to cause pain and suffering.

Or the old, God chastises the one’s He loves. Well, gosh, that makes me feel really special. I don’t know how much more love I can take.

Maybe He’s trying to get my attention. Memo to God: you have my attention, now what’s the point? I thought last summer when I was in the hospital with a perforated colon that God had abandoned me. Now I fear he hasn’t. That he takes delight in sending some new disaster my way.

Maybe I’m supposed to be learning something through all of this. If so, then I’m too stupid, dense and proud to figure it out. The only voices I hear are the ones telling me I’m an ass and deserve every bit of misery that flows my way. That still, small voice? Nope, never hear it. Can’t hear for all cacaphony of crap going on around me.

All of this makes me simultaneously stupefyingly depressed and bloody raging mad. I want to smash and break and destroy. The anger simmers below the surface most of the time and takes all my energy to keep from boiling over. Some days I want to get in my car, drive it as fast as I can and smash it into a cement wall.

They’re used to be a saying, “life sucks and then you die.”

The new version: “life sucks and then you keep on living.”

Late Term Abortion…Real Late

Posted in: News,Rants | June 1st, 2009 | No Comments »

Notorious baby killer George Tiller was shot to death while attending church Sunday.

Tiller is the abortionist who specializes in late-term abortions. You know, the kind where the baby is brought nearly to full term, allowed to be partially born, and then killed by having its skull crushed or its brains sucked out.

Looks like some nut job decided to send him to an early grave.

From KansasCity.com:

President Obama said this afternoon that he was “shocked and outraged” by the killing of abortion doctor George Tiller, who was shot while attending church in east Wichita.

The suspect, a 51-year-old male, was arrested without incident on I-35 in Johnson County about three hours after the shooting, Stolz said.

Police did not release the suspect’s name.

The investigation is in its “infancy stages,” Stolz said. He said the shooting appeared to be an isolated act.

“Infancy stage,” nice choice of words.

Tiller, 67, was shot once just after 10 a.m. in the lobby of Reformation Lutheran Church at 7601 E. 13th St., where he was a member of the congregation.

Stolz said Tiller was shot in the foyer of the church. There were three or four eyewitnesses, he said. Six to 12 people were in the foyer at the time of the shooting.

Tiller was serving as an usher at the church, one of six ushers listed in the church bulletin. He was handing out bulletins to people going into the sanctuary minutes before being shot.

 A couple thoughts,

First, there’s no telling how many babies Tiller killed in his long career as an abortionist. Thousands? Tens of thousands? Who knows? Finally though, he gets what he deserves and will spend eternity reflecting on each of those lives he snuffed out.

Second, Tiller was an usher at a church? What kind of church tolerates an unrepentant murderer in its midst? Do the other members of his church know he kills babies for a living? How in the world do you worship God next to a guy who kills babies? What is wrong with these people?

Astounding.

Here’s what the church has to say about Tiller’s murder:

The Reformation Lutheran Church family is shocked and deeply saddened by the violent murder of Dr. George Tiller, a longtime member of our congregation, that occurred in our church home May 31.

Our congregation strives to be a safe place for all people. We deplore the violence that took place within the walls of our church. Further, we reject any notion that violence against another human being is an acceptable way to resolve differences over any issue. We must always strive to engage in peaceful discussion. Our faith calls us to this. Our humanity demands it.

In the wake of this tragic event, our deepest concern is for the family of George Tiller. We ask the community to join us in prayer for them as they face the difficult days ahead. Our hearts ache with them. We also ask that the family’s privacy be respected.

Members of Reformation Lutheran Church have been deeply affected by this tragedy. To address their needs, we are assembling a team of crisis intervention specialists.

In this time of uncertainty, we stand firm in the promises of Jesus Christ: forgiveness, hope, love, and new life, even from death. We pray for healing and peace to be restored. We offer our thanks for the many prayers of support from across the country. Your words of encouragement are a blessing to the people of Reformation Lutheran Church and Wichita.

The Rev. Lowell Michelson
The Rev. Kristin Neitzel
Reformation Lutheran Church

So they deplore the violence that took place within the walls of their church, but turn a blind eye to the violence against the unborn that occurred nearly every day at Tiller’s clinic.

Further, we reject any notion that violence against another human being is an acceptable way to resolve differences over any issue. We must always strive to engage in peaceful discussion. Our faith calls us to this. Our humanity demands it.

Umm, accept when the violence is against an unborn human and performed by a hired killer masquerading as a health care provider. In that case, violence is a perfectly fine way of solving the problem of an unwanted pregnancy.

Dr. George Tiller's work product.

Dr. George Tiller's work product. No violence here. Nosiree.

The church says,

[W]e stand firm in the promises of Jesus Christ: forgiveness, hope, love, and new life, even from death. We pray for healing and peace to be restored.

But we don’t give a damn about the slaugher of innocents by our  beloved doctor.

Truly astounding.

May God have mercy on us all.

I’m Not Lovin’ It

Speaking of incompetence.

I don’t why I do it, but I keep going back to the McDonald’s in Opal, Va. It’s a busy one usually, because it sits at an intersection where tons of beach traffic from Quebec, New York and Pennsylvania makes its way to I-95.

The place has to be one of the worst run McD’s in the nation.

Last week one day, I went through the drive through, ordered a  number nine, which was a double quarter pounder with cheese, small fry and a drink. My daughter wanted a small fry to I had them add that to the order.

Drove up,  paid, got my order and on the way out of the parking lot I noticed that I only had one package of fries. Looked at the receipt. Yep. Paid for two fries.

So into the restaurant with receipt and bag in hand. Told them I ordered to small fries and only got one. They took the bag and then returned it a moment later.  I  looked in the bag and instead of having two fries I now had three.

Ok fine.

So back in the car, pulling out, I retrieve my sandwich. Only it wasn’t a double quarter pounder, only a single. Back around the drive through again. To ask for my double, which they gave me. While I was awaiting the burder, another guy in a big pickup truck pulls next to me and starts to hollar at the drive through window. They had apparently royally screwed up his order.

A few days later, I’m back in the drive through lane, this time seeking a single quarter pounder. Got my bag of food, pulled out only to discover I had a Big Mac. Shheesh.

Why do I bother?

I mean really, how hard can it be to put a sandwich and a package of french fries in a bag? The order filler is not the order taker or the sandwich assembler. All that individual has to do is read a computer screen with big type on it and stuff food in bags.

But the Opal McDonald’s just can’t manage to handle that complex procedure.

And, I suspect they don’t care whether I’m or anyone else is pissed about it. There’s plenty of vacationing northerners coming through who don’t take the time to check their orders and don’t want to fool with turning around and demanding that the store give them what they asked and paid for.

So while the restaurant is run by idiots, I guess I’m the bigger idiot for continually returning for more.

‘Born Agains’ Backing Obama, Inconceivable

Posted in: News,Politics,Rants | October 31st, 2008 | No Comments »

Inconceivable, but I know some born-again Christians who are planning to vote for Barack Obama.

According to this article, the polling firm Barna Group claims that nearly a third of the evangelical Christian community will vote for Obama, while nearly equal percentages of “born-again” Christians will support either Obama (43%) or McCain (45%).

Despite Barack Obama’s approval of abortion and homosexual activism, new polling by a prestigious Christian research group indicates that the Democratic presidential nominee is making significant inroads among voters who are classified as “born-again” Christians.

According to Dave Kinnaman, president of The Barna Group, born-again Christians voting for Obama say they are backing the Illinois senator because they believe he will do a better job restoring America’s reputation and handling the economy and agree with his stance on the Iraq War.

“People in their 20s or 30s who are born-again Christian are more likely to support Senator Obama than Senator McCain, compared to people who are older born-again Christians, who are more likely to support the Arizona senator,” he explains. “So, when you look at it, it’s a pretty complex set of reasons.”

Inconceivable.

While I can almost understand somebody under 30 falling for the change and hope claptrap, but grownups over the age of 40? You ought to know better. According to the Barma Group Christian young people are turning out for Obama.

There has been significant coverage this election cycle about the generational differences within the Christian community – that younger Christians are breaking ranks with their parents’ political persuasions. The Barna research confirms that born again voters are divided along age lines. Born again Christians in their forties and fifties prefer Sen. McCain by a five-point margin (48% versus 43%), while born again adults in their sixties and older favor the Arizona Republican by ten points (47% versus 37%). On the other hand, among the youngest born again voters – those in their twenties and thirties – Sen. Obama is a 13-point front-runner (51% to 39%).

There’s an old saying, if you’re not a liberal when you’re young you have no heart, but if you’re not conservative when you’re older you have no brain. But some things, at least for the Christian community, are not negotiable regardless of age. Abortion is one of those non-negotiables.

I cannot conceive how anyone who calls himself a follower of Christ can vote for a man who supports abortion, who thinks abortion should be legal, who has promised to sign the “Freedom of Choice Act,” codifying Roe vs Wade. I don’t understand how a Christian, born again, evangelical or whatever, can support a man who thinks babies who initially survive an abortion should not be given medical care to survive.

Let’s be plain. Barack Obama thinks it’s just fine for doctors to  murder babies. Barack Obama thinks it’s just grand for a doctor to stick a pair of scissors into the skull of a partially born, full-term baby and murder it by scrambling its brains.

To my Christian brothers and sisters who are considering a vote for Obama, I humbly and sincerely ask, ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?

WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?

Obama supports this:

And this:

Have you forgotten the slaughter that occurs daily in every city of our nation? Have you become deaf to their cries. Does this no longer offend you? Have you made peace with this atrocity?

NO MAN OR WOMAN WHO THINKS KILLING BABIES IS GOOD SOCIAL POLICY DESERVES THE CHRISTIAN VOTE, PERIOD.

On this blog over the past several weeks, I’ve come up with a plethora of reasons not to vote for Obama. And I’ve said before that I am reluctantly voting for McCain. For all his faults, and there are many, the Arizona senator is at least pro-life and has always been so.

There are plenty of other issues — First Amendment freedoms, tax policy, Second Amendment rights, government control of the economy, the failure of government control of the economy, the war in Iraq and military strategy — on which Obama’s  positions are not just ill conceived, but are outright wrong and dangerous.

So in some respects I am not a single-issue voter. But in another I am, and that issue is protecting the life of babies before they are born. That reason, and that reason alone, is sufficient cause to vote against Obama.

I urge you, I beg you, my brothers and sisters, to choose life on Tuesday. Vote for John McCain.

No More Mr. Niceguy

Glenn Reynolds of Instapundit received an email from a reader that he found “depressing.”

The reader writes that after eight years of hatred and vitriol from Democrats and the left against President George Bush and after the months of vicious attacks by Democrats and the left against Sen. John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin, he is ready to respond in kind to Obama and everything emanating from his administration should he win the election.

This is surely small of me, but if Obama wins, I plan on giving him as much of a chance as the Democrats gave George Bush. I will gleefully forward every paranoid anti-Obama rumor that I see, along with YouTube footage of his verbal missteps. I will laugh and email heinous anti-Obama photoshop jobs, and maybe even learn photoshop myself to create some. I’ll buy anti-Obama books, and maybe even a “Not My President” t-shirt. I’m sure that the mainstream bookstores won’t carry them, but I’ll be on the lookout for anti-Obama calendars and stuff like that. I will not wish America harm, and if the country is hurt (economically, militarily, or diplomatically) I will truly mourn. But i will also take some solace that it occurred under Obama’s watch, and will find every reason to blame him personally and fan the flames.

Obama’s thuggish behavior thus far in this election cycle – squashing free speech, declaring any criticism of his policies to be “racist” (a word that happily carries little weight with sensible people these days), associating with the likes of Ayers, Wright, and ACORN – suggests that I won’t have to scrape for reasons to really viscerally dislike Obama and his administration. And even if he wins, his campaign’s “get out the vote fraud” activities are enough to provide people like me with a large degree of “plausible deniability” as to whether he is actually legitimately the president.

If the Democrats think that a President Obama is going to get some sort of honeymoon from the folks who didn’t vote for him, as a wise man once said: heh.

The era of civil political discourse is over in America. Republicans and conservatives have played the “loyal opposition” for years only to be reviled and hated. And the time has come to fight fire with fire.

Consider Nancy Pelosi’s diatribe before the first House vote on the economic bailout package:

When President Bush took office, he inherited President Clinton’s surpluses four years in a row; budget surpluses on a trajectory of $5.6 trillion in surplus. And with his reckless economic policies, within two years, he had turned that around. Now eight years later, the foundation of that fiscal irresponsibility, combined with an ‘anything goes’ economic policy, has taken us to where we are today.

“They claim to be free market advocates when it’s really an ‘anything goes’ mentality. No regulation, no supervision, no discipline. And if you fail, you will have a golden parachute and the taxpayer will bail you out. Those days are over. The party is over.

For too long, this government, eight years, has followed a right-wing ideology of ‘anything goes,’ no supervision, no discipline, no regulation.

And that’s pretty tame in comparison to some of the stuff you see at leftist protests, but it’s typical of what the Bush administration, congressional Republicans and conservatives have put up with for more years than I care to remember.

Michelle Malkin and Stop the ACLU have pretty good round ups of the leftwing thuggery.

It’s time to abandon fairness, gentility and the old “agree to disagree” ethic. I have relatives in Pittsburgh who are nearly insane with Bush Derangement Syndrome. You cannot discuss politics with them, because discussion implies a two-way conversation. With these folks it’s a one-way rant. Neither logic nor fact gets in the way of their deranged opinions, opinions that have nothing to do with reality.

Like the Instapundit emailer above, I am no longer willing to agree to anything the left has to offer. These people are evil. Their ideas are evil. Obama is evil. His policy ideas are wrong-headed, stupid and dangerous.

Obama wants his supporters to “get into the faces” of those who don’t support him. Good. I welcome the fight.

Obama’s supporters are morons. Period. They can’t point to a single thing the guy has done to make him worthy of the presidency of the United States. They can’t point to one thing he has accomplished in his political career that has improved this country. They can’t point to anything he has said during the campaign that is substantial. All he has to offer are platitudes and generalities. Hope and Change.

What’s worse, for many it doesn’t matter what Obama believes in. For approximately 12% of the electorate all that matters is that he’s got the right skin color.

Hard to believe, but I have prolife, white, evangelical Christian friends who are going to vote for Obama because of his skin color. Nevermind that he is the most pro-abortion candidate to ever seek office, nevermind that the guy thinks it okay to kill a baby that survives a late-term abortion. Nevermind, that one of Obama’s few legislative accomplishments was to block an Illinois bill that would have required doctors to try to save the lives of babies that survive partial-birth abortions. And yet, these otherwise conservative — but guilt-ridden white Christians — are going to vote for someone who thinks killing babies is just grand.

Inconceivable!

I’m sorry, but if you vote for or against someone because of race, you’re an idiot and should not have the right to vote.

I made myself a promise several years ago that I would not vote for a moderate or liberal Republican, even if it meant a Democrat would win an election. I wasn’t going to vote for  McCain. But then he chose Sarah Palin as his vice president.  His launching this incredible woman onto the national stage, where I hope she has a long and productive career, has moved me to support the ticket.

Like the Instapundit emailer, I’ve become a reluctant McCain supporter. And bowing to the inevitable McCain loss next month, I am vowing to become an unhinged, radical, hate-spewing, hard-right conservative.

This blog will be merciless in pointing out the criminal activities of a new Obama administration and brutally critical of everything he and congressional Democrats try to accomplish. I will deny the legitimacy of his administration because of the rampant and widespread vote fraud perpetrated by his surrogates around the country.

I will spend everyday of the next four years hoping catastrophe and failure attend every activity of the Obama administration. Everything bad that happens to this country over the next four years I will gleefully blame on the Obamesiah.

If the left thinks the “Borking” of Clarence Thomas was brutal, just wait for the first Obama judicial nomination. And you moderate Republicans in the Senate, prepare for your share of vitriol if you adopt a go-along to get-along strategy.

I will expect the minority party to pull all stops in opposing Obama and the Democrats. I will be keeping score and come mid-term elections in two years, I’ll be ready to cut off at the knees any Republican who cooperated with the Obamination administration.

Now is the time for political jihad against Obama, the Democrat party and the political left in this country. Put me down as a member of the conservative Hezbollah.

Most of Us Eventual Grow Beyond Middle School

Posted in: Rants | October 7th, 2008 | No Comments »

A nattering nabob of negativity from Pittsburgh goes on a rant against Sarah Palin in a column called “Sarah Palin, the classic schoolyard bully.”

Tony Norman in today’s Pittsburgh Post-Gazette wrote:

Those of us with vivid memories of middle school have seen Gov. Sarah Palin’s type before. She was the girl who was always the first to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance and the last to stop instigating fights in the cafeteria.

She was the girl who always had just enough self-awareness to know when the boys were paying more attention to her than to other girls. Her specialty was flattering the alpha boys around her. Terrified of losing her exalted place, she quickly perfected the art of saying nothing of consequence. She rambled because the boys thought it was cute. If she ever had an original thought in her head, she was discreet enough to keep it to herself. She was the conformist who fancied herself a leader.

From an early age, she knew the power of a strategically placed hand on the bicep of some jock. Girls like Sarah Palin knew how to secure a place with the “in crowd.” After all, she was the girl with the iridescent smile who provided the laugh track for the meat-heads roaming the halls pulling wedgies on those who would never qualify as “their kind of people.”

Later in the piece he pens this chestnut:

With the Biden debate behind her, she flexed her political muscle over the weekend. In cadences that wouldn’t have been out of place on “The Little Rascals,” she repeated her claim that Barack Obama started his political career in a terrorist’s living room.

Hey Tony, maybe you should pay more attention to current events. Your boy Obama DID have his political coming out party in the home of an unrepentant domestic terrorists, one William Ayers, who is not only not sorry about trying to kill fellow Americans but wishes he’d done more. Hell, even the Obama cheerleaders at CNN have finally admitted the truth of the Obama/Ayers connection.

Even Hillary Clinton has talked about Obama/Ayers relationship:

“Obama served on a board with former Weather Underground member William Ayers and that relationship with Mr. Ayers on this board continued after 9/11.” — Hillary Clinton, April 16th, 2008 in Democratic debate in Philadephia.

From Norman:

While the financial system as they knew it was falling down around their ears, Sarah Palin insisted that a nonexistent relationship between her opponent and an aging ’60s radical was the biggest problem facing the Republic.

The financial  systems is crashing precisely because radicals like Ayers, Obama, Barney Frank, Maxine Waters, and other Democrats, and their fellow travelers at ACORN,  National Community Reinvestment Coalition, ACLU and countless other community organizers, browbeat and extorted banks and mortgage companies to make mortgage loans to people who could not afford to repay them. And then Democrat bank-rollers at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac made securities out of the lousy loans. When those two companies started falling apart it was the Democrats who stopped any effort to fix the problems before they got out of hand.

Obama’s Ayers problem is not just some cheap campaign theatrics. Obama is a leftist radical who uses politics to line his own pockets and attain power. He will be a disaster for this country, because if elected he’ll appoint the same types of “community activists” to federal  agency positions that caused the financial turmoil to the begin with.
